Shun OI
CONDUCTOR, PIANO
A Japanese pianist and conductor, Shun Oi was born in 1993.
He was awarded the First Prize and the Toshio Hosokawa Prize (nominated by composer) at the 1st Hiroshima International Conductors Competition in 2022, in Japan.
He is also laureate of several competition for piano such as Yokohama International Competition, Sengawa Piano Audition among others.
He began taking piano lessons at the age of four with Sonoko Hayashi, followed by Akiyoshi Sako, Jacques Rouvier that led him study in Paris with Jean-Marie Cottet and chamber music with Pascal Le Corre and graduated from Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Paris (CRR de Paris) with top honors in 2014.
In addition, he got a diploma of "Corso di Alta Formazione" for piano, from Conservatorio di musica Agostino Steffani in Castelfranco Veneto, where he studied with Massimiliano Ferrati.
While studying piano with Andreas Groethuysen at University Mozarteum in Salzburg, he was also majoring in conducting with Ion Marin, Bruno Weil, Johannes Kalitzke (contemporary music), Gernot Sahler Opera conducting, and historical informed performance with Reinhard Goebel.
After studied harpsichord and fortepiano with Christine Schornsheim and obtained bachelor's degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, and also with Edoardo Torbianelli the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland, he obtained a diploma of Postgraduate.
Until now he participated several masterclasses with Menahem Pressler, Ferenc Rados, Alexander Koblin for piano and chamber music, Peter Gülke, Vladimir Fedoseyev for conducting, Andreas Staier and Clive Brown for historical informed performance.
His repertoire ranges from renaissance to contemporary composer, he was invited to perform the concert of contemporary music, organized by Ensemble Alternance in Paris.
Shun Oi gives recitals and concerts as a pianist in major cities, such as in Berlin, Vienna, Paris, and Tokyo until now.
He conducted or played as a soloist with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, the Yomiuri-Nippon Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, the Hiroshima Wind Orchestra, Salzburg Mozarteumorchester, Meininger Hofkapelle, Choir of the Staatstheater Nürnberg, La Musique des Gardiens de la Paix de Paris.
